Album Review – Kellie Pickler – 100 Proof

Kellie Pickler – 100 Proof (2012)

Genre - Country

Songwriting - Very strong and very country, no bad songs on the album!

Overall Performance - For her third CD, Kellie sounds the most confident she has ever sounded.  She definitely has a lot more twang in her voice than compared to her first CD but this sounds more natural than her second CD.

Stand Out Tracks - “Stop Cheating On Me”, “100 Proof”, “Little House On The Highway” and “Unlock That Honky Tonk” are all single worthy.

Final Grade - B+

American Idol Auditions Houston, Texas (Thursday 1-26-2012)

It’s a shame these audition nights are only one hour…  I am really liking them.  On with the show…

Tonight had a few more BAD / EMBARRASSING auditions than the previous shows.

There was a guy who claimed “The Revolution” has begun…  Claiming to be an underdog, he quickly lost the “revolution”.  He was absolutely terrible.

There was another guy who was so ridiculously dramatic, I was embarrassed to watch him… thankfully he was not allowed to continue…

On the good side we saw a second time auditioner who made it to the Hollywood round back in season six who seems more than ready to make it to the live shows this time around.  The last of the evening was a very touching story of a guy born without ears!?!?!? Well, he could sing, and damn well!  He definitely won’t make it in the pop music world, but could be a big success in the spiritual genre.

Good show!

American Idol Auditions Aspen, Colorado (Wednesday 1-25-2012)

Tonight’s auditions in my opinions were some of the best and worst I have seen yet.  Several were noteworthy:

The Best:  Shelby Tweten, 17, diagnosed bipolar – she is adorable, great story and an awesome recording voice.  I really hope this girl makes it.  There was also a Clay Aiken/Scotty McCreery doppleganger, a younger Crystal Bowersox and a kid from Denver who auditioned with an original song which was fantastic!

The worst:  Magic Cyclops who clearly was way too old to audition and was just plain wierd and a LadyGaga wannabe who thought she could dance and sing show tunes…  Too bad she went through.  Oh, and was I the only one who screamed in pain when she dropped to her knees banging them VERY HARD on the floor?  My mom and I both screamed in pain when she went down.  OUCH!

Coming up…Texas!

Auditions Night Three!

We are treated to an EXTRA night of auditions, and tonight is in Aspin!

The standout auditions tonight for me is a single mom, a 19 year old frat boy and a wolf!  I liked tonight’s show because FOX was running late (thanks to the football game) and they seemed to cut the commercials in half!  LOVED IT!

The talent they are choosing this season is looking really good!
